DHBs right to front up on baby deaths

Palmerston North MP Iain Lees-Galloway has welcomed the release of a review of maternity services at Mid-Central and Whanganui DHBs following the tragic death of five babies and serious harm of two babies under the DHBs’ care.

“The DHBs are right to front up to the public about these tragedies. They urgently need to restore confidence in their maternity services,” says Iain Lees-Galloway.

“There is no one more vulnerable than a new born baby. They have to be safe in our hospitals.

“When our health system is strapped for cash, tragedies happen. The Government also needs to front up about the $1.7 billion that is missing from the health budget,” says Iain Lees-Galloway.
