PNCC Candidates Announced

The Palmerston North Labour Electorate Committee is pleased to announce that it has selected four candidates to run in the Palmerston North City Council Election.

The candidates, all residents of Palmerston North, are:

Lorna Johnson, professional volunteer manager and veterinary surgeon;

Sheryll Hoera, business manager and trainer;

David Chisholm, planning engineer, IT specialist and amateur actor;

Dr Zulfiqar Butt, President of the Manawatu Muslim Association working as a project administrator at Massey University.

Electorate Committee Deputy Chairperson Thérèse McCrea says the candidates bring a diverse range of skills and experience to the city council campaign.

“Labour decided to run candidates because we want to add to the council’s diversity and to support strong candidates to put their names forward,” says Thérèse McCrea.

“Lorna, Sheryll, David and Zulfiqar will bring perspectives from a range of communities and ensure that Palmerston North City Council genuinely represents our modern city.

“Our four candidates all live and breathe social democratic values. Voters will know exactly what they stand for.”
